The question

Is purchasing a house with high-interest bank financing considered a Sharia necessity to avoid the troubles and exorbitant costs of rent, knowing that usury is forbidden except in cases of necessity, and does this apply even if I could afford to buy a better house for a larger amount?

The answer

It is not permissible to buy a house through usurious bank financing, for usury is one of the gravest major sins and one of the seven destructive sins that incur curses and erase blessings. It is not permissible to engage in it except in cases of extreme necessity, such as fear of perishing. Buying a house is not a necessity, because the need for housing can be met by renting.
