What is the ruling concerning a husband who does not pray, watches pornography, constantly demands marital relations at inconvenient times and against his wife's will, and accuses her of being frigid? Is it permissible for the wife to refuse intimacy with him due to her poor psychological state resulting from his actions?

A husband abandoning prayer is a major calamity, for prayer is the pillar of the religion. Some scholars consider one who abandons it a disbeliever, outside the fold of Islam, and according to their view, it is not permissible to remain with him. As for watching pornography, it is forbidden and a grave evil. A husband's request for intimacy is permissible, and the wife must obey him unless there is an excuse. The wife should explain the danger of his negligence in prayer and watching pornography, and if he does not repent, it is better for her to seek a divorce (khul').
