Is it permissible for me to take out an interest-bearing loan from the bank to cover rent expenses and operating costs for my shop, knowing that not taking it will lead to a much greater loss?
Losing 2000 dinars is better than borrowing with usury, because borrowing with usury is a war with Allah and His Messenger, and it causes loss in both religious and worldly matters. Allah obliterates usury, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, its giver, its scribe, and its two witnesses. A single dirham of usury is worse in the sight of Allah than thirty-six acts of fornication. It is not permissible to borrow with usury for this project. One should strive to obtain a benevolent loan, and if that is not possible, then be patient until Allah facilitates the matter.
