What is the expiation for consuming unlawfully acquired money taken from the state or from specific individuals, coupled with feelings of remorse and a desire to repent?

Your fear of Allah's punishment, due to your shortcomings in work and taking what you do not deserve, is righteous, as this is a reprehensible act and impermissible. Sincere repentance is necessary, along with restoring any injustices, whether they involve public or private funds. Consuming illicit gains has severe consequences, as it prevents the acceptance of supplications, and any body nourished by unlawful earnings is more deserving of the Fire. Sustenance is preordained, so it should be sought through lawful means, for what is with Allah can only be attained through His obedience.
