Is the reward for ongoing charity – a monthly sum to cover the cost of medication for an elderly, blind woman – transferable to deceased grandparents? And how? And are they aware of it? And how does the ongoing charity continue if the woman or the donor dies? And what are the conditions for its continuity?

Performing acts of righteousness and kindness towards one's grandparents is a form of charity that benefits them, God Almighty willing. However, it is not an ongoing charity (sadaqa jariya). An ongoing charity is an endowment (waqf) whose principal remains intact while its benefits are consumed. This type of charity can be made ongoing, for example, by building a mosque, purchasing and distributing copies of the Qur'an, or establishing a small investment project whose proceeds go to the poor. A condition for ongoing charity is that it must come from lawful wealth and be disbursed to those who are deserving of it.
