What is the ruling on using notebooks that have pictures of animals or people on them?

Images of animate beings are either photographic, which are permissible unless they are forbidden, or hand-drawn. If they are complete, they are originally forbidden. However, if the intent behind the notebooks is their content (e.g., text) and not the images of animate beings, then their use is permissible. Otherwise, if the images are incomplete, such as only a head or only an eye, then there is no harm in them or in using notebooks that contain them.
