What is the ruling on writing Quranic verses and Prophetic Hadiths in a notebook that has pictures of animals or humans on it, knowing that the focus is on the quality of the notebook regardless of its external appearance?

Images that are present must be effaced or removed, unless they are deficient in a way that a living being cannot survive with (like a head without a body or vice versa), in which case there is no harm in them. As for writing verses (ayat) and hadiths in a notebook containing images, it appears that this is not a desecration (imtihan), but it is preferable to keep the Qur'an and Hadith (definition) free from such notebooks. What is found in newspapers, such as images of living beings along with Qur'anic verses, has become a widespread affliction (ammat bihi al-balwa). Therefore, it is obligatory to protect the verses and the remembrance of Allah and to dispose of the images by burning them, effacing their features, or selling them to paper factories.
