ما هو الحل للأرق وصعوبة النوم؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

One who suffers from insomnia is advised to be patient and seek reward from Allah, along with striving and persevering. The treatment for insomnia is divided into three types:

1. Religious Treatment: This is achieved by attaining peace of mind through observing obligatory duties, avoiding sins, being kind to people, reciting the Quran, and observing the prescribed remembrances (adhkar), all while humbling the heart to Allah and being sincere. 2. Psychological Treatment: This involves striving to free the self from anxiety and disturbance, believing in the insignificance of this worldly life, and being content and pleased with Allah's decree and destiny. 3. Behavioral Treatment: This involves seeking advice from a doctor or a psychological counselor, who may prescribe foods that aid sleep, identify wrong habits, and may resort to sedative medications in chronic cases.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen advises intellectual and physical rest, increasing the remembrance of Allah and Quran recitation, seeking refuge from Satan, adhering to seeking forgiveness (istighfar), associating with the righteous, and turning away from recalling one's condition. The author also pointed out the weakness of the narrations (hadiths) reported concerning pre-sleep remembrances (adhkar) for getting rid of insomnia.
