What is the ruling on a woman traveling to study in another country without a mahram, knowing that her travel is essential to complete her education, and the duration of the travel does not exceed two hours, and she is with a team of women?

The majority of scholars do not permit a woman to travel without a mahram, except in cases of extreme necessity, such as migrating from a land of disbelief (dar al-kufr) to a land of Islam (dar al-Islam). Therefore, you must try to persuade one of your mahrams to travel with you, or get married so that your husband can accompany you and reside with you there (knowing that the presence of a mahram is not required when residing in the country).

If it is impossible to find a mahram or a husband, and you are in urgent need of study, you may adopt the opinion of those who permitted a woman to travel without a mahram when there is no fear of fitna (temptation or discord), especially if the travel is by plane and with a group of women, while being careful to avoid anything that leads to fitna.
