Is it permissible to stop praying or reciting the Qur’an, or not to start them, or to be negligent in them when someone enters, and is this action correct?

One should not abandon a permissible act for fear of showing off (riya'). Rather, a Muslim should perform what Allah has commanded him, seeking His help and relying upon Him, because abandoning an action for the sake of people is showing off. If the motive for obedience is religion, then one should not abandon it. And if one abandons an action for fear of being called a show-off, then this is one of Satan's stratagems. The predecessors, when they felt a type of adornment (self-admiration) in their souls, would discontinue their action.
