Is it permissible to kill dangerous, venomous snakes that are abundant around the house, in order to protect family members, especially given that jinn can appear in the form of snakes, and is it true that killing jinn who manifest as snakes brings bad luck?

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded the killing of snakes, and this applies generally to all snakes, wherever they may be. However, if a snake is inside a house, it should not be killed until it has been warned three times, because it is possible that it is from the Jinn. If it then reappears after that, it should be killed. As for the statement that killing Jinn who appear in the form of snakes and vipers brings bad luck, it is a false statement with no basis.
