Did I err in saying "fasting of the patient" instead of "the religion of Ramadan" when I was young?

Modesty is one of the great virtues, especially for women. If modesty prevents one from explicitly stating that they are observing a fast to make up for missed days due to menstruation, one can use allusive or indirect language, such as saying, "I am fasting as people do in Shawwal."

The statement "I am observing the fast of the patient" holds a valid meaning if it is intended that fasting is a form of patience. We hope that this statement will be met with forgiveness and pardon from Allah due to the modesty that overwhelmed its speaker.

Fasting follows the intention, not the utterance. So, if you intended to observe a make-up fast, it suffices for the days of menstruation, even if your father was told it was a voluntary fast, according to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, actions are by intentions, and indeed, every person will have what he intended." Therefore, there is no need to make up these days, nor is there any hardship; rather, one fasts voluntary fasts as much as one is able.
