What is the ruling on working in the stock market or in a usurious bank in a department that does not deal with usury in Libya due to the absence of Islamic banks?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Working in the stock market is permissible, provided one avoids shares of banks and usurious companies, companies dealing in alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, companies that deal in usurious bonds, and any other prohibited transactions. As for working in usurious banks, it is not permissible under any circumstances, even if it is far from direct usurious transactions, because it entails aiding and supporting their activities. If a person adheres to the aforementioned Sharia guidelines, there is no harm in their work in the stock market; otherwise, they must leave it and seek permissible employment, for whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better.
