What is the ruling on the profits from opening a library to sell newspapers and magazines, and are they forbidden or permissible?

The basic ruling is that selling newspapers and magazines is permissible, as it falls under the general meaning of Allah's saying: "Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury." For they contain permissible benefits. However, if they include forbidden content, such as images of women revealing what is unlawful to reveal, or denigration of Islam and Muslims, or encouragement of something forbidden, or slandering people's honor, or spreading rumors, then selling and trading them becomes forbidden. This is because when Allah forbids something, He also forbids its price. The Muslim must safeguard his religion and purify his earnings.
