Is it permissible for a girl to travel with her mother without her father's knowledge and permission, given that her father refuses her travel, saying: "By Allah, I will not forgive you if you travel with your mother," and his reason for refusal is the presence of dangers in travel and that he is her guardian whose obedience takes precedence over her mother's obedience in this matter?

Kindness to the mother takes precedence over kindness to the father, for she has the greater right to kindness and good companionship, and obedience to her takes precedence over obedience to the father when their commands conflict. Therefore, it is permissible to obey the mother as long as it does not cause harm to the father, and one must strive to gain his رضا (رضا) as much as possible. If the father refuses his son's travel with his mother, the son may travel without informing him if he resides with his mother. However, if he resides with his father, he should not travel without informing him, and it is permissible to use allusions (معاريض) or to be frank with him. The adult, mature male son is responsible for his own affairs, but this does not mean openly defying the father or exceeding the bounds of good manners with him.
