Is it permissible to borrow money to perform the 'aqiqah?

The ' (sacrifice for a newborn) is a (recommended act), not an obligation, according to the majority of scholars. There is no harm in taking a loan for it. Indeed, Imam Ahmad hoped that Allah would replace what a person spent if they took a loan for the 'aqiqah, as it is a revival of the Sunnah. Ibn al-Mundhir affirmed this, stating that reviving and following the Sunnah is superior.
