Allah chose the prophets to invite people to worship Him alone. He sent Noah (peace be upon him) to his people who worshipped idols. Noah invited them for nine hundred and fifty years, but they disbelieved him, showed arrogance towards him, and mocked him. Only a few believed with him.

When Noah despaired of them, he supplicated to his Lord against them, asking Him to destroy the disbelievers. Allah answered his supplication and commanded him to build an ark for his salvation and that of the believers with him. When the flood began, he carried onto the ark a pair of every kind and his family, except for those who disbelieved among them. The believers also embarked with him.

After the disbelievers were destroyed by drowning, the ark rested on Mount Judi. Allah commanded Noah and those with him to disembark in peace. Thus, Allah granted victory to Noah and the believers, and He placed prophethood and the Book among his descendants and the descendants of Abraham.
