This type of sale of goods with unknown contents (sealed boxes whose contents are unknown) is impermissible, because it lacks the condition of knowing the sold item through sight or description. It is considered among the sales of (excessive uncertainty or risk) which are forbidden in Islamic law, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "He forbade the sale of gharar."
