What is the ruling on building a prayer room (musalla) in a house that includes a minbar (pulpit) and a mihrab (prayer niche) for teaching children matters of religion?
There is no harm in designating a place for prayer at home, as this has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Similarly, there is no harm in having a mihrab or minbar in it. However, it is not permissible to skip the Friday prayer in the mosque and pray at home instead. We advise moderation in construction and avoiding extravagance.
