Is there a bloodwit (diyah) for parents hitting their children? If so, how much is it?

It is permissible to discipline young children by striking them, within its regulations. Excessive striking, which constitutes assault, is forbidden; the father would be sinful for it. Mere striking does not entail retaliation (qisas) or blood money (diyah), but if it results in injury to the self or less, then blood money is obligatory upon the father, according to the majority of jurists.
