ما هي المعجزات التي أيد الله بها الشيخ عبد القادر الجيلاني؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani was of the Hanbali madhhab, and one of the greatest shaykhs of his time in enjoining adherence to the Sharia and abandoning whims. He authored the books "Al-Ghunya" and "Futuh al-Ghayb," which contain weak and fabricated hadiths. He was known for several karamat (miraculous acts), which are supernatural occurrences performed by Allah through a wali (saint). Scholars have stated that many of the karamat attributed to him are not authentic, and some are impossible or exaggerated. Occupying oneself with distinguishing the authentic from the weak among them is a waste of time. It suffices for a Muslim to weigh them against the scale of the Sharia: whatever conforms to the Sharia is hoped to be true, and whatever contradicts it is denounced, just as Shaykh Abd al-Qadir himself did when Allah protected him from the devil who claimed divinity and made forbidden things permissible for him. He recognized it was a devil because it said: "I have made lawful for you what I have forbidden for others," and he knew that the Sharia of Muhammad, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, is neither abrogated nor altered.
