Is a father's distribution of land during his lifetime, equally among his sons and daughters, considered a violation of Islamic law? And is it permissible for the mother to deprive her daughters of their share in her quarter of the land and register it for the males only?

If parents gift land to their sons and daughters during their lifetime, there is no objection if they act justly in the endowment by giving the male the same share as the female, and this is the fatwa. However, it is not permissible for a mother to give a share to her sons without her daughters.

If a person dies and leaves behind a wife, two sons, and two daughters, the wife receives one-eighth due to the existence of a lineal descendant. Allah Almighty says: ﴿But if you have children, they get an eighth of what you leave, after any bequests you may make or any debts you may owe.﴾ [An-Nisa: 12]. The remainder is divided among the sons and daughters by way of ta'seeb (residuary heirship), with the male receiving the share of two females. Allah Almighty says: ﴿Allah commands you regarding your children: for the male, the share of two females.﴾ [An-Nisa: 11].

The inheritance is divided as follows: It is divided into 48 shares. The wife receives 6 shares (one-eighth), each son receives 14 shares, and each daughter receives 7 shares.

It is recommended to refer inheritance matters to the Sharia courts to verify all rights, bequests, and debts before distribution.
