Is it permissible to abandon one's studies and travel to other countries, without the parents' consent, in order to escape an environment where corruption and innovations (bid'ah) are prevalent and where one associates with those who do not adhere to religious teachings?

It is obligatory to leave this bad school and stay away from it to preserve one's religion, creed, and morals. One should transfer to a sound school or environment, even if the parent disapproves, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Obedience is only in what is good," and "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." Sitting among people of evil and discord is a great danger, so one must be cautious and move to a more righteous society, even if it requires travel.
