What is the ruling on a husband who abstains from his wife's bed for more than five months, and what has Allah prepared for him due to his failure to fulfill his wife's need for chastity, especially if he is married to another woman?

The right of a wife to be sexually gratified through intercourse is one of her most emphasized rights over her husband. "And due to them [wives] is similar to what is due from them [husbands] in a reasonable manner." A husband's dereliction of this right makes him sinful. If the reason for this dereliction is a preference for a second wife, it is even more reprehensible. Scholars have differed on the required amount of intercourse. The more accurate view is that it is obligatory according to the wife's need and the husband's ability, which is the choice of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. Satisfying the wife's needs is considered good companionship, and a person will be rewarded for it. Therefore, if a husband abstains from intercourse with his wife, despite her need and his ability, without a valid excuse, he is being unjust to her and neglecting her right.
