What is the ruling on a husband who goes to bed refusing his wife in bed without a valid Shar'i reason?

Husbands must treat their wives with kindness, and this includes sleeping in the marital bed and fulfilling the wife's rights. A man is not permitted to abandon this unless there is a legitimate religious impediment. Scholars have differed on the frequency of obligatory intercourse, and Imam Ibn Taymiyyah favored the view that it should be according to the wife's need and the husband's capacity. Although the wife is required to make herself available to her husband whenever he desires, the husband is not permitted to abandon the marital bed for a long period that would harm the woman. Jurists have stipulated that the maximum period a woman can endure separation from her husband is four months. Likewise, a woman should take care of her beauty and adorn herself for her husband.
