The answer

The worshiper must prostrate on seven limbs. Scholars have differed concerning the validity of the prayer of one who prostrates on the top of his foot; the Shafi'is deem it invalid, while the Hanbalis, Malikis, and Hanafis consider it valid as long as the tips of the toes have touched the ground. If the Imam prostrated on the tops of his feet with the tips of his toes on the ground, his prayer is valid, and the prayer of those praying behind him is valid. However, if he did not place the tips of his feet on the ground at all, his prayer is not valid.
