Is it permissible to supplicate for the permissibility of a married man and a married woman, who wish to marry each other after seven years of the woman's marriage and one year of the man's marriage, to be together, and can such a supplication be answered?

It is not permissible for a man to marry a married woman, as Allah, the Exalted, says: "And [prohibited to you are all] married women." However, if her husband divorces her and her waiting period ('iddah) ends, then it is permissible for him to marry her. He must keep away from her and not corrupt her against her husband, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "He is not of us who incites a woman against her husband."

As for the love in the heart, there is no sin in it. However, it is not permissible for a man to supplicate that Allah makes her his wife if she is married, because this is an transgression in supplication (du'a). Nor is it permissible for a woman to ask for divorce to marry another if there is no legitimate reason, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without any harm (justification), the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her."
