What is the ruling on tying back the beard's hair in this manner during prayer?

The meaning of "hair" in the Hadith: "And we will not tuck up garments or hair" is head hair. Scholars have concluded that the command not to tuck them up is for recommendation, and it does not appear that what the questioner is doing falls under the mentioned prohibition.
