Is it permissible to give the expiatory payment for intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan to sixty needy people, to one person from a financially struggling family?
Feeding [the poor] is not sufficient unless one is unable to fast. The obligation is to fast two consecutive months for each day intercourse occurred during Ramadan. If one is unable to fast, then the obligation is to feed sixty poor people. It is not permissible to give it to one poor person, according to the majority of scholars, although the Hanafis permit it on condition that the food is given over a period of sixty days.
