Is my method of distinguishing between semen (mani), pre-seminal fluid (madhi), and vaginal discharge (rutubah) correct, in which I consider thick, yellow discharge to be semen if it is discharged after sexual thoughts, and white discharge to be pre-seminal fluid?

Discharges from a woman's vagina are of several types:

- That which exits with desire:

- Either manī (sperm/seminal fluid) (thin and yellow, pleasure is felt upon its emission), which necessitates ghusl (ritual bath).

- Or madhī (pre-seminal fluid) (thin and white, exits upon desire and is not followed by a weakening of arousal), which is impure (najis), and necessitates wuḍūʾ (ablution) and washing whatever it has touched of the body and clothes.

- That which exits without a specific reason: vaginal secretions. Their rulings are detailed in Fatwa No. 90938.

- That which is seen upon waking up: If its description matches that of manī, ghusl is obligatory. If you doubt whether it is manī or madhī, you have the choice between considering it manī (which necessitates ghusl) or madhī (which necessitates washing it, purifying what it has affected, and performing wuḍūʾ when intending to pray).
