What is the ruling on introducing water into the nose during ablution and expelling it without sniffing it in?

If water is not drawn into the nose during istinshaq (sniffing water into the nose), then it is not sufficient, because istinshaq is the act of drawing water into the nose with one's breath. Merely placing it in the nose without drawing it in is not enough. It is sufficient for the water to reach a part of the nose; it is not required for it to reach the deepest part or the throat. Exaggerating istinshaq is recommended by drawing water to the deepest part of the nose without letting it reach the internal cavity. Neglecting istinshaq or not performing it correctly does not affect the validity of ablution according to the majority of scholars.
