The husband divorced his wife with three pronouncements: two seriously and a third in jest. This is considered an irreversible divorce (طلاق بائن), and it is not permissible for the couple to reunite unless the wife marries another husband. This is because divorce is among the matters where seriousness and jest are treated equally. The fact that he feigned speaking to someone does not change the ruling. The divorced wife must not reside with her husband in the same house after the irreversibility of the divorce.
