Jābir ibn ʿAbdullah, Abū ʿAbdullah al-Ansārī al-Sulamī, was among those who narrated many ahadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He narrated more than 1400 ahadith and participated in Badr and 18 other غزوات (military campaigns). He was one of the scholarly Companions and held a study circle in the Prophet's Mosque. He lost his eyesight in his later years and passed away in the year 74 AH at the age of 94.
