The answer

It is permissible to eat the fat tail (aliya) of a ritually slaughtered sheep (dhakat shari’yah), as fat follows meat in terms of permissibility and impermissibility. However, if the fat tail is cut from a sheep while it is still alive, it is considered carrion () and is not permissible to eat, due to the saying of the Messenger of Allah, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him: "Whatever is cut from an animal while it is alive is carrion."
