What are the reasons for a lack of provision and the absence of blessings within it?

The greatest causes of a decrease in provision and blessing are an abundance of sins, heedlessness of the remembrance of Allah, and not obeying His commands. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, a man is deprived of provision because of a sin he commits." Among the most important causes for attracting provision and attaining blessing are obedience to Allah and Taqwa (God-consciousness). Allah Almighty said: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." [At-Talaq:3], and He also said: "And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth." [Al-A'raf:96].
