How can one overcome the whispers of ill thoughts about Allah, especially when recalling verses such as: "The acceptance of repentance by Allah is only for those who do evil in ignorance and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever All-Knower, All-Wise" (An-Nisa 4:17) and "And when adversity touches man, he invokes Us, lying on his side or sitting or standing. But when We remove his adversity from him, he passes on as if he had never invoked Us concerning an adversity that touched him. Thus is made alluring to the transgressors that which they used to do" (Yunus 10:12), which leads to a feeling of unworthiness of Allah's help and failure in one's deeds?

It is recommended to have a good opinion of Allah, recite the Qur'an, ponder over the texts of encouragement and deterrence, and develop the aspect of hope without neglecting fear. The door of repentance is open as long as the sun has not risen from the west or the soul has not reached the throat. Allah's forgiveness is vast, as stated in the Hadith Qudsi: "O son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I do not care. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and then meet Me, not associating anything with Me, I would come to you with nearly as much forgiveness."

One must resolve to make sincere repentance, abandon sins, and continue in obedience, as the verse in Surah An-Nisa' includes everyone who repents before their death. The verse in Surah Yunus condemns those who invoke Allah during adversity and then renege after it is removed, and the remedy for this is sincere repentance and keeping away from disobedience.

Do not let Satan deceive you or make you despair of Allah's mercy. Stay away from whisperings (waswas), increase your supplications and seeking forgiveness, perform good deeds, and seek out good company.
