What is meant by "Al-Amanah" (the Trust), and what are the benefits derived from the noble verse: {Indeed, We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to bear it and were afraid of it. But man undertook to bear it. Indeed, he was unjust [to himself] and ignorant}?

The trust (Amanah) in the verse refers to the entire religion. The trust means God's honoring of humanity by singling them out with responsibilities and deeds not given to other creatures, and honoring them in the Hereafter with eternal life in everlasting bliss, seeing their Lord, and dwelling with prophets, truthful ones, martyrs, and the righteous. If a person does not preserve this trust, then they are indeed unjust and ignorant.
