What is the authenticity of the story of Abdullah ibn Abi Sarh’s distortion of the Quran and his apostasy, and what is the authenticity of what Al-Wahidi mentioned in "Asbab al-Nuzul" (Reasons for Revelation) that he said when the verse from Surah Al-Mu'minoon descended: "تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ" (So blessed be Allah, the best of creators), and then doubted and said: "If Muhammad is truthful, then indeed revelation has come to me just as it came to him; and if he is a liar, then I have said just as he said"?

Abdullah ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh apostatized and slandered the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, so the Prophet declared his blood lawful. However, he then returned as a Muslim, repenting, and his repentance was good.

Some narrations mention that he said, "I will reveal the like of what Allah has revealed" (Quran 6:93) after he doubted the revelation, but these are weak in their chain of transmission.

It has not been proven that Ibn Abi Sarh corrupted the revelation; rather, what is established is that "Satan caused him to stumble" during his apostasy, and then he repented.
