Is the hadith narrated by Al-Tabari from Muhammad ibn Ali concerning the revelation of the verse, "{Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creation}" [Quran 98:7], and the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his family) saying, "You, O Ali, and your Shia," authentic, and are there any verses or hadiths specifically about Imam Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)?

Scholars of Hadith have judged this particular hadith to be fabricated (fabricated means forged and made up). However, the authentic hadiths that speak of the virtues of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, are sufficient, and among them are: the hadith "Of whomsoever I am the master, Ali is his master," and the verse from the Quran: "Allah only intends to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the household, and to purify you with [complete] purification" (Al-Ahzab: 33), which was revealed concerning the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his household, and Ali is among them.
