If video or computer games do not contain anything forbidden, nor lead to anything forbidden, then there is no harm in them. However, if they contain images, then one refers to the ruling on imaging, which is divided into: a category that is permissible by consensus (imaging that which has no soul), a category that is forbidden by consensus (sculptural imaging), and a category about which there is disagreement (drawing by hand, with the majority deeming it forbidden, and photographic imaging, about which there is a difference of opinion among contemporary scholars). Accordingly, if the games contain images of living beings drawn by hand, they are not permissible unless for the child's religious and moral benefit. If they are photographic images, the matter is less strict.
