Reciting Surat al-Baqarah is a powerful means for treating demonic possession and magic. It repels devils from the house, and they cannot withstand it, as stated in the Hadith: "Indeed, Satan flees from the house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited," and "Recite Surat al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing, abandoning it is a cause of regret, and the sorcerers cannot withstand it."

The last two verses of Surat al-Baqarah protect the house from Satan for three nights.

Ayat al-Kursi protects one from Satan until morning, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed us.

There is no legal basis in Islamic law for the concept of a "magic servant." The impact of a patient's sinfulness on treatment is not known definitively by text. However, the general meaning of the Hadith indicates that devils flee from the recitation of al-Baqarah, and sinfulness may prevent the desired healing. For sins diminish the blessings of one's life, sustenance, knowledge, and deeds, and deprive the servant of sustenance, as stated by Ibn Rajab and Ibn al-Qayyim.
