Is it permissible for someone who travels a distance of 110 km to and from work, and the Maghrib prayer call is made while he is on the way, to pray Maghrib as a shortened prayer, or should he pray it upon arrival?

The distance a traveler covers within their own town is not included in the calculation for qasr (shortening prayers); rather, the distance is calculated after leaving the town. The distance for qasr is 48 miles (approximately 83 kilometers). It is permissible for a traveler to shorten the four-rak'ah prayers and combine prayers (Dhuhr with Asr, and Maghrib with Isha). It is not permissible to shorten the Maghrib or Fajr prayers. If the call to Maghrib prayer is made while you are on the road, and the entire journey will take time, it is permissible for you to combine Maghrib with Isha as jama' ta'kheer (delayed combination) with the intention of combining. Upon returning to your town, you pray Isha as four rak'ahs because the ruling of travel no longer applies. However, if you return before the time for Maghrib prayer ends, you pray it within its time.
