Is the deterioration of circumstances after a memorandum containing verses and hadiths was thrown in the trash related to this act, and is there an expiation for this mistake?

It is forbidden to throw papers containing the name of Allah, or a Qur'anic verse, or a Prophetic Hadith, or anything related to religion into the trash can, because doing so is a debasement of them. They must be preserved by burying them in a respectful place or burning them. Committing a sin may lead to deprivation, and it has been narrated: "Indeed, a man is deprived of provision because of a sin he commits." There is no expiation for what was done except sincere repentance, for "the one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." Sincere repentance frees its owner from all sins, for Allah forgives all sins. "Indeed, Allah Almighty extends His hand by night to accept the repentance of the sinner of the day, and He extends His hand by day to accept the repentance of the sinner of the night." So hasten to repent, and do not despair of Allah's mercy, and let your intention be to draw closer to Allah and seek His pleasure, for "whoever has the Hereafter as his concern, Allah gathers his affairs for him, places his richness in his heart, and the world comes to him in submission."
