Is there any evidence that a worshipper looks at the place of prostration while bowing, as stated in the fatwa of the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta' (Question No. 10969)?
It is Sunnah for the worshipper to look at the place of prostration. This is the view of the majority of scholars, and there are narrations to that effect from the Salaf. An exception to this is during the Tashahhud, where the worshipper looks at his index finger when pointing with it. As for bowing (Ruku'), it is Sunnah for the head to be level with the back, neither raised nor lowered.
