The answer

If a wife breaks her fast due to illness, there is no sin upon her. If she delays making up the fast because of her incapacity, there is no sin upon her, and she is not required to offer expiation (fidyah). If the illness is one from which recovery is expected, she should wait until she is able to make up the fast. However, if she was able to make up the fast but delayed it without a valid excuse until the next Ramadan arrived, then she must make up the fast along with feeding one poor person for each day. If her illness is not expected to be cured, but she can make up the fast during short days, then she should do so. Otherwise, she should feed one poor person for each day.
