What is the meaning of Allah being transcendent beyond the attributes of colors?

One should turn away from obsessive thoughts and from delving deep into questions that are of no benefit, and instead direct one's efforts towards inquiring about the fundamentals of faith and acts of worship. The story of Imam Malik with the questioner about the modality of 'istiwa' (Allah's ascending) is well-known regarding his reprimand of him and his order to have him removed from his gathering. As for the statement: "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is transcendent above any attribute of creatures," it is a general statement. For Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is indeed denied any resemblance to creatures and any attributes of imperfection specific to creatures. And the attributes of perfection established for Allah, Exalted is He, are such that nothing resembles Him in them. The impermissible anthropomorphism is when the Creator resembles a creature or when a creature resembles Him in His attributes. The truth lies in negating both anthropomorphism (tashbeeh) and negation of attributes (ta'teel). Allah is described with attributes of perfection, and any resemblance to creatures is negated from Him, as He Almighty said: {There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing} (Surat Ash-Shura, 11). As for what are called "attributes of colors," there is no basis for them among the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah.
