Is it obligatory to obey a father who orders one to stop raising the hands before and after bowing (in prayer)?

Raising the hands before and after bowing (Ruku') is among the emphasized Sunnah acts, and the majority of jurists hold it to be a firmly established Sunnah. While the fundamental principle is for a Muslim to preserve this Sunnah, if it conflicts with an issue concerning the father, then caution and gentleness with him, and obedience to him in matters that do not involve disobedience (to Allah), become obligatory. It is advised to be patient and gentle in teaching him the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and even if it necessitates occasionally abandoning this Sunnah in front of the father to win over his heart, then whoever abandons a recommended act with this intention will be rewarded by Allah. Imam Ahmad, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Ibn Baz have issued fatwas to this effect.
