If my mother commands me to perform a Sunnah, does it become obligatory for me?

If a mother commands her son to perform a sunnah (prophetic tradition), some scholars are of the opinion that it is obligatory to obey her, while others hold that obedience is not obligatory, but rather, this sunnah becomes emphasized for him. Disobeying parents ( 'Uquq al-walidayn) is defined as going against their permissible wishes, and honoring them (Birr al-walidayn) is agreeing with them on these matters. Therefore, if they command something that does not involve disobedience [to Allah], then it is obligatory to obey them in it, whether it is from the mubah (permissible) or the mandub (recommended). Some people have gone as far as to say that their command regarding a permissible act makes it recommended for the son, and their command regarding a recommended act further emphasizes its recommendability.
