What is the ruling regarding a husband divorcing his second wife with the intention of depriving her of inheritance, knowing that their relationship is distant, and fearing that she might take the right of his children?

The situation of a man who divorces his wife is one of two scenarios: Either he divorces her during his death illness with the intention of depriving her of inheritance, and his divorce is effective. The majority of scholars hold that she inherits from him absolutely (whether the divorce is irrevocable or revocable), while the Shafi'is hold that she inherits from him only if the divorce is revocable. Or, he divorces her while he is in good health, and his divorce is effective. In this case, neither inherits from the other if the divorce is irrevocable. However, if the divorce is revocable, she inherits from him as long as she is in her 'iddah (waiting period).
