How can one deal with a father who antagonizes his daughter and marries off her sisters to unsuitable men without consulting her, and is a son considered disobedient if he forbids him from evil?
Your duty is to obey your father, treat him well, and accompany him with kindness, as Allah Almighty says: "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him through hardship upon hardship, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with kindness." He is not obligated to consult his sons regarding his daughters' affairs, as he has the right of guardianship over them. However, he must fear Allah Almighty concerning his daughters and only marry them to someone whose religion and character are pleasing. As for your gentle and soft-spoken forbidding of evil, it is not considered disobedience; rather, it is a form of righteousness, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, this is the oppressed, so how do we help the oppressor?" He said: "By preventing him from oppressing."
